With the PJ program we found the great deal at Sam's Club, a four pack (2 tops/2 bottoms) for only $2.71 and then another bargain at Meijer a four pack for $7.50 (50%) off. Our donation is growing and we'll make a delivery at the end of the month. If you've got any deals to pass along please post a comment. If you have any PJ's that you're donating locally for you please let me know, I'd love to hear the story attached to your act of giving.

As far as couponing for more at the grocery store... I'd say we had our first successful trip today. I signed up for a one month trial on thegrocerygame.com and I got organized, clipped my coupons, printed my list and off we went. I was planning to go w/ out the kids to give me more time to look & sort down the aisle, but it worked out that I had both of them with me and we all did great. If you have or had small kids (2 or more) you know what a chore a simple trip to the store can be!
Anyways, we saved...
$2.28 meijer promotions
$64.80 non-coupon savings
$18.34 coupon savings
Grand total of $85.42 savings!
Spending $115.64 - that's about normal for a week but I never have items to "stock pile". That's one of the "tricks" in the grocery game, buying what's on sale w/ a coupon that you can stock up on, like detergent, deodorant, cleaning products, non-perishables, freezer items, etc.
I got great deals on a few items for donation too! Last week I made a special trip to the store because I had a BOGO Free coupon for baby formula that I don't use and the same forumla sent me a $10 rebate check. That means I bought two cans of formula for about $2.00! That's a food pantry donation b/c we don't use that brand of formula and I guess it's like dog food, you'll be sorry if you switch brands! We don't want that!!

I'll keep you posted on what's next for me and the Hosier kids! Let me know if you find any bargains!
Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The Hosier family is excited about 2008! We had a very busy 2007... we had a baby, opened to fitness locations, maintaining our Advocare business, moved to Noblesville, and of course the day to day stuff that keeps you going.
I just sent out an email to some family & friends about two resolutions the kids and I will be participating in this year. Here's what my email said:

The kids and I just wanted to send everyone a quick email to let you know a few resolutions we have for 2008.
First as a family we (me & the kids) have decided to partner with two philanthropic organizations. The one I'm most excited about was featured on Oprah and it's the pajama program. We have a group here in the Indianapolis area that collect PJ's for kids in foster care, group homes, shelters, etc that don't have any PJ's and some have never, ever worn jammies. If you know Lauren (which all of you do) you know her favorite thing to wear is her jammies! So we've been talking about the crazy notion that there are kids out there that don't have any... she's getting it... I think! Anyway, when we're out shopping we're looking for PJ's on sale! I will be posting info on my blog http://hosierfamily.blogspot.com/ about deals we've found. The best deal so far is a Carter's 4 set of pj's for $2.71 at Sam's Club.
I encourage you to look up a pajama program in your area, or email me when you're shopping and you find a deal somewhere, or send me PJ's to donate, do something it's a great cause!
The second involvement of ours is going to require a little more work on my end but it should make grocery shopping a little more fun. We have a "bag of hunger" group at our new church and it's literally a bright yellow bag you take home with a shopping list on it for shelter donations. How easy is that? Well, we don't want to be spending a ton of "extra" money doing this so my plan is to buy a lot but spend very little by playing the grocery game and clipping coupons! Not something I normally do very well so any suggestions would be great, also in some research I've done it helps to stock pile coupons for when something is on sale you score big. So if you would like to help me mail me your coupons and again email me if you're out shopping and find a mega deal on non-perishable items.
I think Lauren will enjoy both of these activities and it has and will continue to give us something to discuss and set in motion a giving heart in her.

If you didn't get my email, my apologies. I'll keep you posted via this blog as to what we're doing... watch out for video clips, that's my new hobby!

We wish you a healthy, joyful and favorable NEW YEAR!

Mandy

Hosier Summer Fun!

Our summer fun officially kicked off 2 weeks ago at the Fort Wayne Zoo. We had a blast! Lauren is at a great "zoo age". Which means she loves seeing all the animals, recognizes them and can manage the park by walking around most of the time. Of course having the baby with us gives her a place to rest as well since I drive the double stroller, my Cadillac! The Zoo is apparently one of the top 10 zoo's in the nation so it was definately a home run kick-off for the summer. We've got a big day trip planned one day a week and park days, visits to dad at the fitness center, and days at home planned in between.
We're looking forward to a great family summer! Not to mention a 12 day trip out to California to spend with family & friends in July...

Enjoy the time with your friends and family!

Love, Mandy & family

Update on the kids!

Yesterday, Wednesday the 23rd Charlie was 11 weeks old and he tolerated 3 shots and an oral immunization. He weighed in at 15 pounds and even though he cried with each prick of the needle he fell asleep afterwards and ate when we got home. He's been all smiles & giggles lately which is a ton of fun when we talk to him, it's especially fun for Lauren to make him smile. She loves that! :)
He hangs out in his swing, stroller, Einstein mat, and tummy time on his blankie. Grandma & Poppi had both kids all day last weekend for the first time and they all had a great time. The kids were worn out and I think the grandparents were too!

Lauren is having a great spring/summer so far! We've been outside as much as possible either in the yard or at the park. It gets hot at the park because there is no shade near the kids equipment but she has a blast and gets more brave each time we go. It's fun to watch her get excited about a new accomplishment of climbing something or sliding down the bigger slide. She's getting taller and we just chopped off her hair. I actually wanted to cut it even shorter but she had a crying fit so we had to make due. It looks really cute! She won't keep a pony tail in nor a clip so I decide a better summer do would be short. She seems to like it too.
She has a few jealous moments and tries to take advantage of me when i'm baby occupied but she's doing well for the most part while adjusting to being the big sister. Almost everyday (even right now) she wears her pink tu tu, crown and fancy dress up shoes. She's hilarious and ALL girl!!

Indy Mini - Marathon

35,000 people. Thousands of runners. Thousands of walkers. Hundreds of children athletes. Hundreds of sponsors. Many cheering fans. One decision. If you're local to Indianapolis or it's surrounding areas you were there or you watched it on the local news. What an amazing event! I can wait to participate next year! This past year I considered it but being pregnant put that on the back burner, but this year i'll be able to properly train and fully participate. Andy & I are planning for an Anytime Fitness / AdvoCare Team to train & run together in 2008. So what will you decide? Will you sign up for the race now? Will you put it off? Are you going to try and make it? What's your decision?
And for the record if you think you're too big, not in shape, not able to even run a mile don't worry. The people out there today we're outta shape, in shape, recreational athletes, top athletes and everyone in between. Normally I'll just drink more water and an occasional Rehydrate, electrolyte replacement drink from AdvoCare. But Andy & I just discovered a new name for an old drink... RE-Spark. When we drink a Spark energy drink in the afternoon we make it a RE-Spark; that's a combo of Rehydrate & Spark in one drink. It tastes awesome! Especially when you mix flavors like mandarine orange Spark w/ Fruit Punch rehydrate. Give it a try this summer and see for yourself how much better you'll feel... both re-hydrated & energized!

Weight loss...

Happy to report that from last Monday to yesterday I lost 5 pounds and 1" in my waist! When I delivered Charlie I had gained 43 pounds total and lost 25 pounds with little effort. Holding steady at 130 pounds & a size 8 I knew was ready to work at getting the rest of the weight off and back down to my pre-pregnancy size. Last week I drank an AdvoCare meal replacement shake for breakfast & lunch & then had a healthy balanced dinner. The additional AdvoCare products I take are Spark and catalyst, coreplex multi vitamin & omega plex to ensure a hearty milk supply! It's amazing that the shakes can help you cut your caloric intake but increase your protein. It's all about feeding the muscle and starving the fat & NEVER skipping a meal! I also only drink water and have for years, but it's key too.
I'll be doing the same for another week and then I'll report back. Of course I'm anxious for our fitness club to open to also start a strength training program.

Andy also has a new AdvoCare product story. He's added an additional shake in the evening, a few hours after dinner. His "forth meal". He does sit ups, push ups & arm bands twice a day and has put on 6 pounds. I guess what I'm losing he's finding... it's a good trade!

6 weeks...

We've reached the milestone of 6 weeks post delivery. Mom & baby are doing great! Baby Charlie weighed in yesterday (a little over 6 weeks) at 13.8 pounds! He's growing like a weed! He's definately outgrown all his newborn clothes and comfortably wears 3 month size clothes. I'm pretty certain he'll have doubled his weight by 2 months... probably just a little ahead of schedule. Lauren was the same way as a baby so I feel like we're on track. Last night he slept through the night for the first time. He had a feeding at 10pm and then started waking up about 7am for a feeding and is now back asleep. YEAH!! Maybe my nighttime interruptions are a thing of the past!

Lauren is also doing great. We put up our trampoline last weekend and now we're experiencing hours of backyard fun & exercise. She's strong, balanced & coordinated and it shows on the trampoline. She's getting a good release of energy too... which means better sleep for her too. A great thing for the summer months ahead.

Andy is also doing great! He will start membership pre-sales this coming weekend at our fitness center location. We're so excited about that because that means we're about a month or less away from opening the doors to the club!! If you're down in Indy / Noblesville area or live down there the location is at the corner of 146th & Hazel Dell Road come by for a visit. Andy will be there Saturdays, Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays... at the very least. Check out more details at http://AnytimeFitnessNoblesville.com.

Mom Tip of the Day...

When Lauren was a baby I struggled with keeping her clothes stain free because she would often get stains from diaper leaks. Well, a family member just recently informed me that dish soap is the magic stain lifter. So I've been putting her theory to the test. Before throwing the clothes in the washing machine I use dish soap on the stain and scrub it out with an old toothbrush. To my surprise it works! I can't believe this household product that everyone has works! I have so many stained clothing items of Lauren's and I'm happy to report that I won't have near as many from Charlie. A practical tip I hope my other mom friends will put to the test and preserve some of your babies clothes from having unwanted stains. From what I hear it also works on grass stains and almost all other stains you can think of. After putting it to the test let me know what you think.

Happy Washing!

Pictures of the Hosier kids! Charlie is already 1 month old today ... yesterday! I'm not able to blog as often as I'd like so now i'm off a day from when I started this. Anyway, baby Charlie is doing well. We've all got allergy symptoms of all kinds floating around our house and he's even got a little congestion so sleeping during the night has been a little compromised. I thought we were on the road to sleeping through the night b/c on Tuesday night he slept for a 6 hour stretch but then on Wednesday night he was up crying & congested every 2 hours. We're on the road to recovery and he's doing much better sleeping again. He's dropped his late night feeding so now i'm only getting up once about 3 or 4 am. Not too bad for him only being one month old!
Our announcements our in so those will be mailed out next week, the pictures are really cute!

Chat with y'all soon!

2 weeks old...

It's all about weight & sleep at this early stage and Charlie is gaining weight and sleeps a lot. We're getting rest and having fun with Grandma still in town. We had a nurse come to the house for Charlie's one week check up and he weighed in at 8 lbs 15 oz. The nurse was very encouraging and surprised that he'd put on that much since birth. He was born at 8 # 5 oz and left the hospital at 8 # 3 oz. We're very fortunate that he's been nursing well and is eating about every 3 hours around the clock with one or two longer spans in the morning and at night... we're just hoping for one of those to start falling when we're all sleeping.
Lauren is an amazing Big Sister, as you can imagine! She's very good with him and imitates what we do with the baby with her doll, it's hilarious to watch her. She's so serious and animated at the same time.
More pictures to come....

Welcome Home Baby Charlie!

We welcomed Charles Braxton Hosier into the world at 11:41am on March 7th. My doctor & I scheduled the induction Wednesday morning because I was 4 cm along and 50% effaced on Monday and very ready. Having an end date was a great thing and very relaxing. Since no labor happened prior to Wednesday we got to the hospital a little after 7am Wednesday and got checked in. My mom was with Andy & I and Lauren was with Andy's parents from the night before. My doctor broke my water at about 8:30, patosin started at about 9, and I was fully dilated and ready by 11. I labored down while the nurses and my doctor got everything ready and I started pushing about 11:15 - 6 pushes later he's was out - fat & happy - 8 lbs 5 oz & 21 inches long! After a long delivery with Lauren it made this one seem like a walk in the park and yes I'd do it all over again!
We had a great recovery at the hospital and they let us go the next day at 6pm just 30 hours post delivery. I didn't want to spend another night in the hospital bed since I felt good and Charlie was doing so well.
Since we've been home Charlie has gotten a lot of rest, had a lot of visitors and he enjoys all the personal entertainment from his big sister. Everyone is doing well & grandparents have been an amazing help.

Approaching March...
The birth month is upon us. I can't believe that it's already March 2007. Does time seem to pass more quickly because of kids, work and the fact that we don't live in a world of semesters anymore? Some days of recent for me have seemed like an eternity waiting for the baby but since our "official" due date isn't until the 7th I've decided to take my mind off his arrival and focus on other things going on. Here's a brief update on everything else happening on the Hosier home front.
We have funding and a lease for space in Noblesville, Indiana for our Anytime Fitness location and we're so excited about that. Andy is also officially a certified personal trainer! He's now diligently working with his partners on the build out of the space and equipment selection. We should be starting our membership pre-sale in March and open the doors to the fitness center in April. That without a doubt is going to be a very busy & exciting time!
Our AdvoCare business is also still going strong. We just had a team return from Success School in Dallas, Texas last weekend and without a doubt lives are continuing to change and improve. We unfortunately were not able to attend because our priority of being together if the baby arrived early was number 1. That was however the first Success School that we have both missed since our journey with AdvoCare began in 2001. Amazing! If you haven't heard there are new products, new literature featuring NFL brothers Julius & Thomas Jones and our very own team members Todd & Michelle Woods are featured in the new DVD! So get your hands & eyes on a copy to see & hear their life changing story.
That about sums up what we've been up to on the business home front.
Hope you're well!

Waiting...

Still no baby yet. It's Friday, February 23 and I'm about a week and 1/2 away from my due date but since the doctor's said "D" day could be any day we stepped it up and now we're ready. This is a difficult place to be in to say the least. I've been having consistant contractions for a week and i'm at least 3 cm dialated and last night even though it didn't seem possible the baby dropped down in my pelvis and now it's difficult to walk faster than a shuffle. I feel like and probably look like a little old lady. I'm just praying that the baby comes at the right time. Because of our false alarm last week i'm waiting until contractions are unbearable & walking impossible to go back to the hospital. I guess i'm a little stubborn but I don't want another false alarm. I'd rather walk in ready to push!
We'll keep you posted.
bye for now!

It's about time...

I can't believe I haven't posted since October... oops! Well, most of you reading this already know that after our Thanksgiving vacation we experienced a lot of transition very quickly. Andy is no longer working at Granger Community Church, we sold our house and moved temporarily to Kokomo, Indiana all before Christmas. And don't forget I was 7 months pregnant then. Just want to make sure you keep the story line in perspective. Anyway, we're doing great! Renting a home from Andy's parents, getting ready to have the baby (due March 7th), meeting people through church & Lauren's activities and spending time with family. Andy is busy getting the gym up & running in Noblesville with his two partners and he's doing some IT contract work at a local church. We're both preparing for our personal training certification tests and very excited about our next phase of life in Indianapolis.
On a personal note i'm ready to have baby number 2... even though I always tell people to enjoy the last few weeks & days that you're still pregnant because once he's here he's here to stay. To pass the time I'm staying busy with Lauren and making sure her schedule is tight & ready for a little chaos. Which it seems to be. She's been great since we moved! She's totally potty trained so thankfully we'll only be buying one size of diapers! Yeah! She still naps about 2 hours mid day and goes to bed by 8pm (if we're home & on schedule). I've got a few more things to prep & buy before the baby arrives but we're ready to have him here. Except for the "minor" fact of what his name is going to be.... we're still undecided! I keep praying but nothing is coming to me. If you have any suggestions please feel free to comment.

Per a friends request here is a picture of us lovin' on the baby yet to come...

bye for now. You better believe it! We're thrilled!! Our families are equally as excited. They should be since this baby boy is history in the making, the first boy grandson on both sides of the family. As for the Dobson's, it's the first boy in 2 generations. We're looking forward to his arrival the first week of March; my doctor says the 7th & the ultrasound says the 2nd.... going early is OK by me! I'm doing well, fighting a little cold right now but my health is good overall and the baby is definately growing. I'm officially 21 weeks along, well into my 2nd trimester and just trying to stay healthy & active as winter approaches. Andy is doing well too. He's been working extra hard with our AdvoCare team as well as his normal job hours. He's do for a much needed break but it'll have to wait until the holidays. Speaking of break... my friend and AdvoCare co-hort Heather Van Tuinen & I just got back from an all expense paid Ladies spa weekend in Fredericksburg Texas. It was an eventful travel experience but when we finially made it to Texas we had the time of our lives. Being pampered as a women is VERY important! I haven't ever gotten that little sleep & felt so rested in all my life. I guess the lesson in that is that sleep doesn't give your spirit rest and that's what we needed to feel so rejuvinated. It was an unforgetable time!
Lauren update:
She is in the big girl bed & all her belongings are in the big room for good. She's so cute & little in that big bed! She also threw her pacifier away 2 weeks ago. Since she only was using it to sleep it was a popular request at bedtime but it was actually an easy transition for her to not have it because she threw it away and we watched the trash man take it away the very next day. After a few days of asking for it she quickly forgot all about it... whew! We're still potty training... she has about 0-2 accidents a day. I'm just not hard-core and can't do training panties w/ accidents. There's nothing worse then trying to get out the door and then have to clean up a puddle & change all her clothes. We're working on it though... i'm definately being trained along with her! What an experience! As her reward for throwing the paci away friends of ours (the Woods) bought her a pair of Croaks (Katie/Allie shoes) and we went to build-a-bear and made Abby Bear.
Nearing November we're planning a trip to my parents in So Cal for Thanksgiving and
have a lot of AdvoCare events throughout the month. Today we went to the pumpkin patch and Lauren had a blast running through the aisles of pumpkins! I can't wait to see her excitement around the rest of the holidays.

Have a great day!
Mandy

I just recently finished an amazing book that I want to pass along as a MUST READ to everyone. The book is titled, "The Storehouse Principle" by Al Jandl it is about acheiving financial stability & abundance under the scripture; Deuteronomy 28:8 - The Lord will send a blessing on your storehouse and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.
That's one translation, your bible might read just slightly different. If you read or heard about the book written about Jabez and liked that you'll love this book. It's an easy read, very practical stuff and even something we've decided to do as a group study. And even for me a busy pregnant mom of a 2 year old finished the book in less than a week.
My prayer is that this book is as eye opening and life changing for you as it has been for me. Andy is reading it now, so i'll have him post his thoughts as well. Please comment if you pick up a copy.

We're 17 weeks along and here's what babycenter.com has to say about that; Your baby weighs about 5 ounces now, and he's around 5 inches long — about the size of a large onion. He can move his joints, and his skeleton — until now rubbery cartilage — is starting to harden to bone. His sense of hearing is also developing. The umbilical cord, his lifeline to the placenta, is growing stronger and thicker.
Don't take the "he" to seriously, remember we don't officially know yet... not for a couple more weeks. I felt the baby kick me Tuesday for the first time. It's good to know what a kick really feels like since it's the second time around. I remember with Lauren I was always wondering in the beginning, was that a kick / was that movement? Not knowing for sure until it was happening all the time.
Well, we've got a play day today at our house with about 5 other 2 year olds and their moms. We get together every week and let the kids go crazy while we try to have some conversation. It's a great group of moms & kids and all the kids are socially benefiting from all the interaction. Lauren does better when we're hosting but she's adjusting to being at other people's homes. She's a little introverted at first when we're in a larger group of people but she's getting better each time. Not sure if it's all personality or just an age thing. She's also having a hard time at church right now, cries every time we drop her off in the 2 year old room. Other parents say that it's a "tramatic room" in general b/c there are so many 2 year olds and they are all developmently at different stages. I guess that's one theory. We just keep dropping her off, hoping & praying that she'll grow out of it / find something that interests her / find a buddy / something to keep her from crying. I personally think it's a 2 year old attachment thing b/c she doesn't cry the only time she's there and she shows off by always using the potty. We'll just keep socializing her and i'm sure she'll out grow it.

Have a great day!

Have you seen the weather channel? Well, it's definately fall here in Indiana and we're quickly approaching a cold winter! I'm glad i'll have a little extra baby weight on me this winter to keep me warm. I'll let you know when the first snow fall comes... usually it's not until after thanksgiving but i'm predicting it to be a little sooner this year.

We've transitioned most of Lauren's stuff to the "big girl" room, everything except her that is. She'll be moving into the big girl bed after a few goals are met. One big one is no more pacifer. She only uses it while sleeping, I never liked the idea of a child walking around with one - it's dirty and it inhibits speech... sorry if you allow it, but I don't. Anyway, that's her next big milestone. Potty training is going well but I know it will be awhile until she stays dry through the night. So i'm not too worried about that and that's not a big girl bed goal.
So for now if you were to visit, you'd be sleeping either in the big girl bed (twin) or on the futon couch which will eventually be in the nursery and then make it's way down to the basement.
During the room transition it also forced us to do some cleaning and reorganizing in the basement. The old computer and desk are down there along with all the workout equipment and big leather chairs. We're still deciding what to do for flooring, right now it's just concrete but all the old carpet tack strips are gone and all the dust and nails are swept up. It actually is starting to look pretty good down there. We've got to do some wall repairs, painting, lighting & flooring to call it finished but that will be a great winter project.

Baby is growing... it's officially doubling in size over the next few weeks. We've got our ultrasound scheduled for October 16th so hopefully we'll be able to tell boy or girl by then. We're excited to know and have some fun ideas on how we'll be sharing the news. Stay tuned...

Have a great one!

Hey friends & family -

Many of you already know the news, but some of you might not... we're expecting! Baby "numero dos" will arrive around March 7, 2007 - which would be a cool birthday 3-7-07. Easy to remember anyway! We're really excited that the baby & Lauren will be 2 1/2 years appart and their birthdays will be in different months/seasons. At least i'm excited about that since 3/4 of our family; immediate & extended are all born in August. This will be a nice change!
I'm expecting an ultrasound sometime in October and as of today I'd at least like to know the sex of the baby... Andy is unsure. He goes back and forth with wanting to know, not wanting to know, wanting to know - not wanting anyone else to know... you better pray that doesn't happen! I'm sure we'll all know soon enough and excited about either.
Now that i'm about 16 weeks along I've been feeling great. I had a rough couple months during the first trimester. Just felt sick of course never really getting sick, trying to keep up with Lauren, our business and life in general. It took a toll on me but right at the break of the trimesters and a lot of prayer I feel "normal" just look different.
Speaking of the way I look... i'll attached some pictures when we take them! I've gained about 10 pounds. To be expected, I gained a total of 40 while pregnant with Lauren and i'm expecting about the same. I felt good at that pace of gain and it all came off within about 3 months. No worries when AdvoCare products are in the house!

Lauren update:
She is 2... not a terrible 2 just 2. She loves to stand at the table on the bench and eat. While eating she still drinks her veggies and her applesauce. She loves to talk and can make complete sentences it's usually just when she gets excited to tell a story that you can only make out a few words like "c'mon" and "fall down" but it's hilarious none the less. She says her ABC's just missing a few of the letters and counts to 10 in English & Spanish. A few extra numbers come out in english but in no particular order. Her favorite saying right now is "sorry 'bout that" and she even uses it in the right context another hilarious moment. She's 33" tall and weighing in at 25 lbs which in height she could be about 5'6" as an adult. YAHOO!! She'll be one of the tallest females in the family.
